As we head into late May and approach early June, Jackson Hole is transitioning from spring into an early summer pattern. The spring rains and snowmelt that kept our grounds soggy earlier in the month are giving way to warmer temperatures and more sunshine. This week’s weather looks friendlier overall, though we’ll still keep an eye on a couple of possible spring thunderstorms in the middle of the week. Overall, the upcoming conditions should help soils continue to firm up, allowing us to maintain our landscaping schedule with minimal interruptions while protecting your lawn from damage.

Weekly Terrain Conditions

This upcoming week’s forecast features a gradual warm-up and drying trend with just a few isolated midweek storms to watch. Daytime highs climb steadily from the mid-60s°F early in the week to the mid/upper 70s°F by the weekend. Each day is warmer than the last, giving us our first true taste of summer by Sunday. Nighttime lows also moderate into the 40s°F, which means milder overnights that help dry out the terrain and reduce any lingering frost risk in the valley. With lots of sunshine expected toward the end of the week and only light precipitation overall, the turf and topsoil will continue to dry out after the soggier conditions of recent weeks.

Impacts to our schedule: This warming and mostly-dry pattern is good news for our landscaping operations. Early in the week, the ground still has some residual moisture from spring, especially in shady or clay-rich spots, so we’ll start cautiously to avoid creating ruts on soft turf. If a brief thunderstorm pops up Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon, it might temporarily wet the grass or leave a few puddles, but those should soak in quickly given the light amounts. We’ll remain flexible and adjust timing around any midweek storm cells – protecting your lawns and garden beds is our top priority, and we’ll continue to work selectively and proactively to keep your landscape in great shape as conditions improve.

Forecast This Week

🌤 Monday, May 26th: Mostly sunny and mild for Memorial Day. High around 68°F, low near 40°F. Light winds and dry conditions will allow soggy areas to keep drying out. Solid mowing conditions in areas that have firmed up; we’ll monitor any leftover soft spots from last week’s rains.

⛈️ Tuesday, May 27th: Partly cloudy start, with increasing clouds by late morning. A spotty afternoon thunderstorm is possible (around 0.05–0.10″ of rain where storms hit). High near 67°F, low around 44°F. Cooler than Monday with a light breeze picking up during any storm. Grounds should remain mostly firm, but a downpour in one or two neighborhoods could briefly soften up those lawns – we may pause work briefly if lightning or heavy rain develops.

⛈️ Wednesday, May 28th: Mix of sun and clouds, turning unsettled in the afternoon. Another isolated thunder shower or two could pop up over the valley. High about 69°F, low around 42°F. Any rain looks light and hit-or-miss (a few hundredths of an inch). Very little change in soil moisture – most areas stay on the drier side. We’ll be ready to dodge any quick showers, but otherwise continue with our normal mowing schedule as much as possible.

⛈️ Thursday, May 29th: Early summer warmth taking hold. Mostly sunny in the morning, with clouds building later and a better chance of scattered thunderstorms by afternoon/evening. High temperature around 70°F, low around 45°F. One of the warmer days so far, which helps dry the turf, but any thunderstorm could drop a brief heavier shower (locally 0.1–0.2″ of rain in spots). We might shuffle some appointments to the morning to work around the higher storm risk later on. Where a storm passes, the ground may turn soft but should firm up quickly after the rain ends thanks to the warmth.

🌤 Friday, May 30th: Clearing out and turning drier. Expect a mix of sun and a few puffy clouds. High around 71°F, low near 46°F. A drying west breeze (gusts around 15 mph) will kick up, helping to rapidly firm any areas that caught rain on Thursday. This will likely be one of the best days for fieldwork: solid footing for mowers and other equipment. We’ll tackle any backlogged jobs as grounds become fully workable again.

☀️ Saturday, May 31st: Sunny, warm, and stable – a preview of summer. High reaches about 75°F, low around 46°F. Light winds and low humidity. Lawns and garden beds will be drying out nicely under the sun, so we’ll ensure irrigation systems are activated or scheduled as needed to keep new plantings happy. Excellent conditions all day for mowing, trimming, and any landscape projects (the soil will be firm enough for even heavier machinery by now).

☀️ Sunday, June 1st: Bright and hot by Jackson standards. High near 78°F (warmest of the week), low around 49°F. Abundant sunshine continues. With no rain in sight, turf and topsoil will likely be quite dry – we’ll watch moisture levels closely, as irrigation may be needed to maintain lawn health going into next week. A great day for outdoor activities and for the landscape to soak up sun, wrapping up the week on a summer-like note.
