Spring in Jackson Hole is bringing rapid transitions. After the weekend's rainstorms and cool temperatures, we’re starting this week on the soggy side, but signs of early summer are on the horizon. Nights are still brisk, yet stronger sunshine and milder daytime highs are set to return. That means our waterlogged lawns should gradually firm up, and we’re gearing up to take advantage of the improving mowing conditions as the week progresses.

Weekly Terrain Conditions

This week’s forecast features a steady warming and drying trend. After a chilly, damp start on Monday, each day grows a bit warmer – climbing from the upper 40s°F into the 60s°F by week’s end – and overall precipitation chances remain low. Coming off a weekend of heavy rain and even thunderstorms, the soil is saturated to begin with. However, a stretch of clearer skies, relatively light winds, and higher late-May sun angles will encourage gradual evaporation of that excess moisture. By midweek, many areas should transition from squishy to increasingly firm underfoot, especially in spots with good sun exposure.

Impacts to our schedule: With the ground waterlogged from Sunday’s downpours, we may delay or stagger mowing early in the week to prevent turf damage. You might see us testing footing and selectively mowing only the driest sections on Monday and Tuesday. We appreciate your patience if your service is pushed back a day or two – it’s all to protect your lawn from ruts while it’s soft. The good news is that the weather is cooperating: by Wednesday onward, drier and warmer conditions should allow us to ramp up our mowing schedule across most properties. We’ll also keep an eye on a minor late-week shower risk, but overall we expect to catch up on any delays as the ground firms up. Our team will continue to communicate any schedule adjustments, and as always, protecting your landscape is our top priority.

Forecast This Week

⛅ Monday, May 19: Partly sunny and cool. Morning temperatures near freezing may lead to patchy frost. High around 48°F, low 32°F. Ground conditions: Very soft and muddy after Sunday’s rain – limited mowing until things dry a bit.

☁️ Tuesday, May 20: Mix of sun and clouds, milder by afternoon. High about 55°F, low 32°F (another frosty dawn possible in low spots). Ground conditions: Gradual drying continues; still soft in the morning, but improving by late day with a gentle breeze and sun.

🌤️ Wednesday, May 21: Mostly sunny and seasonable. High near 58°F, low 35°F. Light winds under 5 mph. Ground conditions: This is the week’s turning point – the first solid day of drying. Lawns begin to firm up, and we expect to resume mowing in many areas as soil conditions allow.

⛈️ Thursday, May 22: Warmer with a few more clouds. High around 63°F, low 38°F. Breezy especially in the afternoon (winds gusting 15–20 mph). Ground conditions: Generally dry and firm by now. The breeze and warmth further help evaporate moisture. (No rain expected during the day, so we plan to be out in force on our maintenance rounds.)

⛈️ Friday, May 23: Partly cloudy with a slight chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm (hit-or-miss). High about 65°F, low 38°F. Any isolated rain would be around 0.1–0.2" if it occurs. Ground conditions: Predominantly firm after a week of drying. A brief shower could create some slick spots, but widespread disruption is unlikely – we’ll monitor the radar and adjust timing if needed.

🌤️ Saturday, May 24: Mostly sunny and pleasant. High of 64°F, low 42°F. Light breeze. Ground conditions: Excellent. After a week of warmth, the soil has rebounded nicely. Turf can handle our equipment, so all scheduled weekend projects (and any remaining mowing) should stay on track.

☀️ Sunday, May 25: Sunny and the warmest day yet. High reaching about 67°F, low 40°F. Calm conditions. Ground conditions: Dry and stable. This summer-like day caps off the week’s improving trend – lawns and garden beds are in great shape for any work. (Also a beautiful day to enjoy your yard!)

ready when you are.
