As we move into early May, Jackson Hole is officially in transition mode. Rain and snowmelt are still making their mark, but sunshine and warming temperatures are also beginning to shape the terrain.

Clay-heavy soils in our area hold moisture longer, meaning even small rainfall events can keep things soft underfoot. We're also keeping an eye on the dry-down curve as we prepare for mowing and irrigation season to begin.

Weekly Terrain Conditions

This week’s forecast reflects a classic early May arc — cool and damp at the start, drying and warming steadily through the weekend. That warming pattern is key: rising daytime highs and milder overnight lows help reduce residual snowmelt and encourage root zone activity.

By late week, we expect soil temps and surface conditions to support early mowing in select areas, while continued sun exposure will help prep terrain for irrigation system activations where applicable.

This week may start off a bit slower due to wet conditions, so if you’re on the schedule, we kindly ask for your patience as we navigate post-snow mud and scheduling challenges. The best window for productive outdoor work will likely be from Wednesday onward, once the ground has had time to firm up after the early-week rain.

Forecast This Week

🌧️ Monday, May 5th: A rainy and breezy start to the week with gusts nearing 20 mph and dense clouds. Roughly ½ inch of precipitation is expected. Highs near 59 °F, lows around 38 °F. Ground will be saturated and unworkable.

☁️ Tuesday: Early rain tapers by mid-morning. Cooler, with highs around 52 °F and lows dipping to 33 °F—the coldest of the week. Winds begin to ease, but soft, soggy ground persists.

☀️ Wednesday: Sunshine returns with lighter winds (under 5 mph). Highs near 58 °F. First signs of meaningful drying begin, although ground remains patchy in softness.

☀️ Thursday: Clear skies and light breezes support steady drying. With highs around 64 °F and overnight lows in the upper 30s °F, we expect firmer footing and strong progress on scheduled work.

☀️ Friday: Sunny and stable. High of 67 °F, low near 39 °F. Ground conditions at their best this week—ideal for mowing or heavier equipment use.

⛅ Saturday: A few high clouds mix in, but it's still dry. Highs peak at 70 °F with a mild breeze. Slight rise in humidity, but terrain remains mostly firm and workable.

🌤️ Sunday: Dry with a blend of sun and clouds. High around 68 °F, low near 45 °F. Warmest overnight temps of the week cap off a stretch of improving conditions.
